Commercial drainage is rarely just a blocked pipe. It is a blocked pipe on a site that is trading, with a permit process, a fixed access window, vehicles moving, and somebody who needs to know by the end of the day whether this is a recurring cost or a one-off. That context shapes how we work.
The drainage professional behind The Drain Lads has over 20 years of experience in the drainage industry across commercial, industrial and residential systems. The Drain Lads is a new brand built on that experience — the work, the assessment and the reporting come from two decades on site.
Where a problem is straightforward we clear it and tell you what caused it. Where it is not, we investigate before recommending expenditure, so that money is spent on the actual defect rather than on repeat attendances.
Clearing blockages and getting the site running
Most commercial enquiries start with something backing up: a blocked drain in a kitchen run, a gully surcharging in a yard, a soil stack backing into a washroom, or an interceptor that has not been emptied and is now flooding the surface water system.
We clear the blockage, then look at why it happened. A blockage that returns within weeks is usually a symptom of a defect, a fall problem, or a maintenance gap rather than bad luck — and it is far cheaper to identify that than to keep paying for attendances.
CCTV surveys and drainage investigations
A camera survey turns an opinion into evidence. We survey drainage runs to establish pipe condition, locate defects, confirm connectivity and check whether foul and surface water are correctly separated.
Surveys are used for recurring problems, pre-purchase and pre-lease due diligence, responsibility disputes between landlord and tenant, insurance and warranty questions, and as the baseline record for a planned maintenance programme. Where the layout of a site is unknown, tracing and mapping records what is actually in the ground.
Repairs, relining and excavation
Where a survey shows cracked, displaced, root-damaged or collapsed pipework, the repair method is chosen around the site as much as the pipe. No-dig relining restores a damaged run from inside, which usually means a yard, car park or service road stays open.
Excavation is proposed where lining is not viable — severe collapse, missing sections, or where the run needs re-laying. Either way you get the method, the disruption and the reinstatement set out before works are agreed.
Planned preventative maintenance
For kitchens, industrial yards, interceptors and multi-property portfolios, scheduled attendance is normally the lower-cost option. A programme sets what gets jetted or inspected, how often, and when — typically outside trading hours.
Frequency is set against how the drainage is actually used rather than a standard interval, and each visit is recorded so you have a maintenance history for the property file.
